This is a very rare North American trilobite. This is a beautiful specimen of Bathyurus extans from the Middle Ordovician of Canada. This fine specimen was acquired from a major trilobite collection. The distinct trilobite is complete and very nicely articulated - the free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The extremely long genal spines almost extend to the pygidium. The ancient arthropod is well centered on the squared block of matrix. This is a very collectible example of this very rare trilobite from Canada.
