Here is an outstanding US trilobite. This is an outstretched specimen of Maurotarion (Cyphaspis) christyi from the Silurian of Indiana. This specimen was found a number of years ago and recently acquired from a major Waldron Shale collection. The quarry where this specimen was found is now filled with water. It is very rare to find this trilobite in the prone position - usually they are enrolled. This spectacular specimen is 3-dimensional and wonderfully articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The bug exhibits wonderful detail - even the long, thin genal spines are beautifully displayed. The cream-colored trilobite is well showcased on the large plate of limestone. And best of all, there is NO REPAIR OR RESTORATION to this stunning trilobite. This is one of the best examples we have seen of this trilobite from the Waldron Shale.
