This is a gorgeous trilobite. It is a beautiful Metacanthina issoumourensis from the Devonian of Morocco. This distinct trilobite has been meticulously prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab. The 3-dimensional bug is wonderfully articulated and exhibits outstanding detail! The individual lenses of the large, crescent-shaped, compound eyes are very easily seen. The dark, chocolate-brown trilobite contrasts beautifully with the light-brown matrix. But the coolest feature of this trilobite is the pathologic left genal spine. It looks like it was bitten by a predator and only a small part of it continued to grow! This is one of the most distinctly pathologic Metacanthinas we have ever seen. This is easily one of the coolest specimens of Metacanthina issoumourensis that we have ever prepared.
