This is a beautiful Scutellid trilobite. It is a rare Thysanopeltis speciosa from Morocco. This type differs from most Scutellids in that it has a row of small spines emanating from the border edge of the pygidium. This bug showcases this feature beautifully. The trilobite is complete and has both free cheeks intact and tightly articulated. The thick shell exoskeleton is incredibly well preserved - the ribs and spines on the tail display strikingly. This specimen is extremely inflated and quite large for this type. The trilobite is beautifully showcased on the sculpted block of limestone. This is a very displayable example of this spiny Scutellid trilobite.
