Here is a rare trilobite. This is a complete Odontochile spinifera from the Devonian of Morocco. This trilobite differs from the more common Zlichovaspis rugosa by having a rounded cephalic brim and distinctly pustulose exoskeleton. This trilobite is wonderfully prone and beautifully articulated . The specimen displays very fine detail - the pustulous nature of the exoskeleton is easily seen. The large compound eyes are well preserved - the individual lenses of the eyes are mostly intact. The long, sweeping genal spines have been prepared free-standing and extend to the pygidium - even the telson (tailspine) is fully free of matrix. The trilobite has unusual, natural brown color and contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. The trilobite has been meticulously extracted from the surrounding matrix. This is an artistically prepared specimen of this scarce species of Odontochile.
