This is a classic US trilobite. It is an excellent Isotelus maximus from Ohio. This type of trilobite is one of the most recognizable trilobites in the world, especially because of its maximum size. This type of trilobite has also been officially named the ''State Fossil of Ohio''. This specimen is complete, outstretched, and beautifully preserved. The thick shell exoskeleton is intact and has nice detail preserved - the genal spines are extremely long! The chocolate-brown coloration of the bug is quite striking. The distinct trilobite contrasts beautifully with the large, natural blue-grey matrix block. And there is even a small Flexicalymene tail fossilized on the brim of the Isotelus tail - natural, not added on! This is a collectible, outstretched Isotelus maximus from the Cincinnati area.
