Here is an extremely rare US trilobite. This is a complete specimen of Anataphrus vigilans from the Galena Formation of Minnesota. This specimen was recently acquired from the famous DeRosear Collection. The trilobite is complete and almost perfectly prone - DeRosear said it is the only complete example of this type he'd ever seen. The trilobite is very 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The eyes are easily seen protruding above the smooth carapace. The caramel-colored trilobite contrasts wonderfully with the buff-colored matrix. The trilobite is well showcased on the large block of limestone. This is an irreplaceable example of Anataphrus borraeus from the DeRosear Collection.
