Here is a rare, outstretched example of Flexicalymene meeki from the Ordovician of Ohio. This specimen was found years ago in Monroe, Ohio, and just now prepared. This is not the more common Flexicalymene retrorsa, it is a F. meeki, easily recognizable by the distinct genal spines on this specimen. This large trilobite is extremely inflated and beautifully articulated. The thick-shelled exoskeleton of the bug is very complete, and the free cheeks are intact and tightly attached. The dark brown trilobite contrasts beautifully with the blue-grey matrix. The finely detailed bug is well presented on the large, natural plate of shale. And, best of all, this is a split pair - the counterpart in also included! This is an excellent part/counterpart Flexicalymene meeki from a very unusual locality.
