Here is a classic trilobite fossil. This is a very large Elrathia kingi from the Cambrian of Utah. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 2000. Although this species is one of the most prolific trilobites, this specimen is a very nice example. The trilobite is complete and very well articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The trilobite has been well prepared to preserve the fine detail. The black bug contrasts beautifully with the grey matrix. The trilobite is well positioned on the slab of shale that also contains many trilobite pieces. This is a very large example of a complete Elrathia kingi.
