Here is a classic trilobite fossil. This is a wonderful Elrathia kingi from the Cambrian of Utah. This specimen was found by Steve Hess in 2000. Although this species is one of the most prolific trilobites, this specimen is a very fine example. The trilobite is complete and almost perfectly articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The trilobite has been well prepared with an air abrasive machine to preserve the fine detail. The black bug contrasts beautifully with the grey matrix. The trilobite is well positioned on the slab of shale. This is a very large, distinct example of Elrathia kingi.
