Here is a fabulous example of a very displayable trilobite. This is a huge example of Illaenus schmidti from the Ordovician of Russia. This species of Illaenus has a massive, bulbous cephalon with sharply pointed free cheeks - these features are quite evident on this specimen. This beautiful trilobite is extremely 3-dimensional and superbly articulated. Both free cheeks are present and tightly attached. The robust bug is fully prone and exhibits excellent detail. The wide-spaced eyes are easily seen, and the individual thoracic segments are clearly defined. The gorgeous, butterscotch coloration of the fossil contrasts beautifully with the light-colored matrix. The trilobite is wonderfully showcased on the natural plate of limestone. This is a Top Quality specimen of Illaenus schmidti from ''Behind the Iron Curtain''.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
