Name:
Asaphus (Neoasaphus) punctatus Age: Middle Ordovician Formation: Asery Level Location: Near St. Petersburg, Russia Size: Trilobite is 3.5 inches long! Price:SOLD
Here is an excellent specimen of Asaphus (Neoasaphus) punctatus from the Ordovician of Russia. This very large trilobite is extremely well articulated and is almost perfectly prone. The bug is quite inflated and very symmetrical in appearance. Note the large, stalked eyes - a defining feature of this species. The rich, caramel-brown color of the trilobite contrasts wonderfully with the buff-colored matrix. The fossil is almost perfectly centered on the sculpted limestone block that also contains a fabulous specimen of Echinosphaerites sp., a cystoid. This is a beautiful example of this classic stalk-eyed trilobite from Russia.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
